Posted in Uncategorized on July 2, 2009 by markergallery

Hello Loyal Pawns!

Just in case you haven’t yet caught wind‚ It’s time for Marker Gallery to close it’s doors! We have had a ball in our current spot but now it’s on to new things! Speaking of new things, our latest and FINAL exhibition “Winter Set” is opening Thursday July 9 from 6-9pm! If you haven’t made it to one of the Marker Gallery X Freshly Baked Gallery shows, its a damned shame as they’ve been outstanding! But all is not lost… We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our personal invitation to the final event in a massive series!

The series has seen the physical and virtual art worlds merge in revolutionary style and some of Australia’s finest young artists; Creepy, Ripe Collective, PHIBS, EARS, Kevin Tran, Simon DeGroot and more have already graced the walls. This show’s going to be an absolute corker so don’t be among the lonely few left scratching their heads & wondering how they missed out!

Get rugged up for the “Winter Set” featuring new original works by Ape Seven, Mephisto Jones, Caitlin Rigby, Aida Sabic, Satta van Daal, Baden Pailthorpe, Max Berry, Daniel Foothead & Alastair Mooney. Our best collection to date washed down with boutique beers from the generous crew at U-Brew-It and wine by Yalumba! A surefire recipe for keeping the winter blues at bay…

“Winter Set” exhibiting online at Freshly Baked Gallery (freshlybakedgallery.com) from 9 July – 9 September with selected works on display at Marker Gallery (markergallery.wordpress.com) – 159 Johnston St, Collingwood until 25 July

  Cheers & See you Thursday,

Marker Gallery X Freshly Baked Gallery.

ERINFORSYTHFLER2

Marker Gallery is proud to present Erin Forsyth’s first solo exhibition in Melbourne, a collection of new illustrations, paintings and watercolors.

Erin Forsyth is a practicing artist and illustrator of no fixed abode.

Currently working as the Arts Editor for THE NEW ORDER Magazine and contributor to art and news feeds http://www.thewire.co.nz and http://www.extracheeese.com and is a contributor to http://www.slamxhype.com.

Erin has experimented with exhibitions and aerosols for over a decade; including the opening of her aerosol store Creep, in 2002.

In the last 12 months she has exhibited at Monster Children, MTV, Lee, Black and Blue, Liberty, Plaything and Some days galleries amongst others.

With no qualms but a small hesitation she has completed illustrations for various publications and other commercial or ‘commissioned’ works.

As a result her work has generated a growing interest and an international cult following…

Erin’s new print for the Little Art Book (www.littleartbook.com) “The Agony” will be available for the first time in Melbourne!GetAttachment-1.aspx

Finally! A gallery that changes it’s logo as often as its underwears!

This is it folks!

This is the final logo change, it’s been along and gruelling task but I think this is the one that will stick.

Based on the preceding logo but with a light twist of lemon, this guy will be the face of the space. If you ask him nicely he will stay around and party.

Also big thanks to all who made it down to the “New Collections” opening last night! Three cheers for Freshly Baked for bringing together a collection of amazing artists and letting us throw a party for them. If you didn’t get a chance to pop down the show will be up for another two weeks so come down and check it out. Big thanks to all the artists involved and to Prickly Moss for supplying 4 wonderful brews (besides those few pilsners that went bad, there going to get a good talking to).

Photos on their way!
